From October 10 through October 20, the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) will be hosting an online dialogue with Securing America's Future Energy (SAFE) to gather ideas on how autonomous vehicles (AV) can best serve to increase workplace participation for the disability community. As AV technology continues its rapid progression to mainstream use, it is important to recognize the potential such technology has for reducing transportation and employment barriers for people with disabilities, particularly blind and visually impaired individuals. Participants are invited to vote on ideas, expand upon them, and brainstorm new ones. ODEP and SAFE will use the results of this dialogue to develop resources and materials to enhance understanding of AV technology and how it can be of use to people with disabilities as they seek stable and long-term employment.
